Projects

Rachel Hoyt is a visual journalist who regularly wanders the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada capturing intriguing moments and beautiful scenes on The Strip, in the Arts District, at the Fremont Street Experience, and more. Her editorial photography and videos are available here on Shutterstock. Ms. Hoyt also enjoys using ICM (intentional camera movement) to create fine art photos that capture the energy felt in the sites and sounds of Las Vegas.

Rachel shares her photography in ambient music videos on her YouTube channel alongside videos of very unique and unusual subject. Ms. Hoyt is conducting independent research on something we have little scientific evidence about: is tarot real? Rachel makes videos about the ways she is using tarot playing cards and poker to collect evidence about how much meaning can be said to be “in the cards”.

Publications

Rachel Hoyt is the creator of three guided journals and one pen-and-paper puzzle game book. All four are available on Amazon.

The My Poker Game Journal was created to give new Texas Hold’em players an outline of what they should study in order to learn how to play poker. It can also be used by experienced players to record their strategies and game theories for posterity. The guided journal has three sections. First are 75 pages with images and topic prompts. Next is space to record the details of 20 memorable hands. Finally, there are “playable hands” for both cash game and tournament scenarios – pre-flop poker hand descriptions which give the opportunity to decide how you might play in that circumstance.

The Memorable Hands Journal is similar in content to part two of the My Poker Game Journal. Each blank journal contains space to record the information on 65 hands and has designated locations to make note of where and when the hand took place, position, hole cards, stack sizes, pre-flop and post flop action, community cards, pot odds, and equity… plus additional lined space for your thoughts on the ambiance, player behaviors, and anything else that contributed to how you played the poker hand.

The AWEsome Tarot Journal was created with the AWEsome Deck of Tarot Playing Cards for those who want to learn how to use tarot cards. The guided journal contains rhymes written to help readers gain additional knowledge about the meaning historically attributed to each playing card and blank three-card (past, present, future) layouts to record the details of your tarot reading experiences. All details of both – the images on the playing cards, tarot messages, and book design – are by Rachel.

Poker Puzzle Book 1 contains 100 pen and paper puzzle game boards that those learning poker “from zero” can use to learn the rank of hands, practice recognizing the winning poker hands, and begin to ponder basic poker strategy. Soduku lovers may also enjoy the game book as an alternative to their usual puzzle game.
