Have you ever tried to imagine what your best self looks like? Tried to visualize it and the symbols that might best represent that person’s qualities and characteristics? These are the types of questions that my line drawings respond to. These Kings and Queens are part of an ongoing series of abstract portraits that blend symbolism and expressive patterns into a visualization of a person at their best. The series begins with black and white abstract profiles and portraits to reflect the rigid viewpoints many have about the best self while allowing all different types of people to see themself reflected in the image.
