I wanted to take a moment today to tell you a bit more about my latest publication: the AWEsome Tarot Journal.

It’s a guided journal for anyone interested in practicing fortune telling with playing cards. It contains two poems that I wrote so I could “rhyme to remember” the tarot meanings of each playing card and features images from the AWEsome Intuition Deck of Playing Cards, which I also designed. (Note: playing cards sold separately.) There are four pages for taking notes on each individual card and thirty-one blank 3-card spreads for recording the results of past-present-future readings.
For me personally, using the journal is sort of a self science study. Taking notes on what I asked and what I believe the card(s) said also gives me a reference point to verify by experience. By the time I finish filling the journal, it should be obvious whether or not there were messages in the cards that I understood intuitively.
This is how I use my AWEsome Tarot Journal:
First, I feel it is best to meditate and get into a relaxed, focused state before using my cards.
When I feel ready, I begin shuffling my deck while asking it a very specific question (that includes the number of card(s) I want my answer to be.
If I don’t have something about my life that I want to ask about, I might say, “What one card has the message I need to hear – your advice for my day?”

For three-card readings, I’ve found that you need a fairly specific question if you want a good answer. For example, I might say, “What three cards can help me understand my love life with [insert name] – past, present, and future?” or “Give me three cards that show what my business needs to be successful.” Note: You should define success specifically in this second example. Does it mean $___ per month, recognition and/or fame, a contract with ___?
I don’t stick to a set number of shuffles. I cut and deal whenever I feel called to do so – after I’ve asked my question clearly and succinctly multiple times.
I decide what to do about cards that pop out of the deck during the shuffle on a case by case basis. Sometimes, I think it happens because I wasn’t actually calm and centered enough to begin… or because I wasn’t asking my question specifically enough. Other times, my intuition says that the card(s) that popped out are my answer.
Single card readings are recorded in the first section where the pre-printed information about that card appears.

I use my PDF printable stickers set to add images when I record my 3-card spreads in my journal. This printable vinyl sticker paper works great with my ink jet printer. I’m guessing I won’t need more than two printed sets to fill 30 spreads, but we shall see.
Oh, and if you are wondering why I say AWEsome – why I spell it like that – it is because I hope your experiences with the cards will leave you in awe.
